Nessie
Trance Tale #3: The Loch Ness Monster
What came into my mind’s eye upon meditating on the Beast of the Loch. Dedicating this one to the wonderful John Watson - Horror Author. 🦕
A gray, cold day. Thick clouds cover the sky. The land around the loch is lush and dark green. The water is black and still. Thunder rumbles and rolls across the hills. It sounds like bowling pins clattering.
There’s a little bird in close-up. He’s brown and beige, and has black eyes. Rain starts to fall. It patters softly, making circles on the loch. The bird shakes its feathers and puffs up. Its head is wet and it chirps. Everything is tranquil.
A woman is walking along a road next to the loch. She looks like she’s in her sixties. She wears a burgundy skirt, thick-soled shoes and a cream cable-knit sweater. Her hair is thick, white and braided, pinned up in the back off her neck. She pauses on the road and looks out over the huge loch. The rain sweeps over it in gentle sheets.
A large circle appears close to the shore. Slowly, a shape breaks the surface and an oblong head emerges, just the top. It’s dark, like the slick skin of a whale or orca. It has big, liquid eyes and its jaws stay submerged below the water. It rests there for a few moments, calm and placid. The woman on the road sees it and she and the beast regard one another silently. Then she continues on her way. Nessie goes back under.
She swims deep beneath the Arctic ocean. It is many shades of crystalline blue. There are massive blocks of ice floating around her and she slowly wends her way between them. Her body is rounded and fat. She glides away into the distance, serene and peaceful…

This was actually very peaceful
I love the imagery evoked by a fat creature wending through glacial ice
